Gas regulators Gci

A gas cylinder is a pressure vessel for the storage and containment of gases at above atmospheric pressure. High-pressure gas cylinders are also called bottles. Inside the cylinder, the stored contents may be in a state of compressed gas, vapor over liquid, supercritical fluid, or dissolved in a substrate material, depending on the physical characteristics of the contents. A typical gas cylinder design is elongated, standing upright on a flattened bottom end, with the valve and fitting at the top for connecting to the receiving apparatus.

Choosing the right regulator for your application is critical – and often challenging.

Ghani Chemical understands the importance of using the appropriate equipment for each gas.

Functionality:

There are three basic operating components in most regulators:

  • a loading mechanism,
  • a sensing element, and
  • a control element.

These three components work together to accomplish pressure reduction.

The Loading Mechanism determines the setting of the regulator delivery pressure. Most regulators use a spring as the loading mechanism. When the regulator hand knob is turned, the spring is compressed. The force placed on the spring is communicated to the sensing and control elements to achieve the outlet pressure.

The Sensing Element senses the force placed on the spring to set the delivery pressure. Most regulators use a diaphragm as the sensing element. The diaphragms may be constructed of elastomers or metal. The sensing element communicates this change in force to the control element.

The Control Element is a valve that accomplishes the reduction of inlet pressure to outlet pressure. When the regulator hand knob is turned, the spring (loading mechanism) is compressed. The spring displaces the diaphragm (sensing element). The diaphragm then pushes on the control element, causing it to move away from the regulator seat. The orifice becomes larger to provide the flow and pressure required.

product specifications

Following are the main types of gas cylinder regulators including:

General-purpose gas pressure regulators: Designed for economy and longevity. They are recommended for noncorrosive general plant, pilot plant, and maintenance shop applications.

High-purity gas pressure regulators: These are designed and constructed to provide diffusion, resistance, and easy cleanup. In these gas pressure regulators, inboard diffusion is minimized or eliminated by metal diaphragms, high-purity seats, and seals.

Special service gas pressure regulators: It is a type of gas pressure regulator specifically constructed for specialized applications, including oxygen, Acetylene, fluorine service, high-pressure, ultra high-pressure, and corrosion service.
